In my last visit to Sao Paulo I attended one program on Mahatma Gandhi. Municipal Corporation of Sao Paulo decided to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary on 30 Jan. They have the statue of Mahatma near Ibirapuera Park. It was well attended event. As a Indian it was a proud moment for me. They had arranged one traditional Indian dance by a Brazilian dancer Andrea and Mahatma’s favorite bhajans (prayers).
It is really heartening that his value system has got universal appeal in today’s modern world. His statue in the one of the biggest city in the world, Sao Paulo is wonderful tribute to his work towards the mankind.
